    Emergency Response Services (Dial 108)

  • The State Government through the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Punjab has operationalized 240 ERS ambulances w.e.f. 01.04.2011. PHSC operates Emergency Response Services 108 Ambulance in the State of Punjab through M/s Ziqitza Health Care Limited (ZHL)  L-1 company the operator of 108 Emergency Response Ambulance Services as per new contract signed for five years from 15.01.2021.

     

  • Recently the number of ambulances have been increased from 240 to 270 at almost the same cost of expenditure per annum on the basis of new operational bill payment per ambulance has been reduced to Rs. 134751/- as compare to Rs. 147562/- in the previous contract. In mid year 2020, 83 ambulances added in the fleet due to covid pandemic making total 325 ambulances (300 BLS + 25 ALS) on board across all the 23 districts in the State of Punjab.

  • The service is available 24x7 for the entire State of Punjab & free access to all by dialing 108 from landline or mobile phones.

  • The ambulance will reach to site within maximum average response time 15 minutes in Urban and 20 minutes in Rural areas.

  • The ambulances under 108 ERS are managed through Emergency Response Center. The shift of call center of ERS 108 from Amritsar to tricity at Zirakpur, SAS Nagar shall help in better monitoring from HQ at Mohali and thus success of project.

  • All the ambulances are fitted with GPRS Systems for 24x7 real-time live monitoring with visual map of ambulance location and movement with advanced Central IT Dash board with real time tracking and MIS system for efficient functioning of project 108 ERS.

  • The older ambulances are being replaced time to time with the new ambulances in order to increase the performance and efficiency of the fleet of 108 ambulance to provide uninterrupted 24x7 emergency services to the public of the State of Punjab.

  • Each ambulance is manned by specially trained Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Driver.

  • 108 ERS ambulance is equipped with emergency medicines and equipment. Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances are equipped with ventilators, defibrillators and multi para monitors for transportation of critically ill patients to the higher health care facilities.
